At the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, Samsung has an opportunity to keep its success streak going. That's clearly the plan, if this Samsung teaser for CES 2013 is any indication.
The teaser is laughably vague, simply telling viewers to "get ready" for "something new," with the official dates for CES (Jan. 8-11) given as the timeframe. This kind of hype in and of itself is something new for Samsung, which was more aggressive with advertising than ever before in 2012, particularly in its targeting of Apple.
So what can we expect from Samsung at CES 2013? Although the show isn't traditionally a mobile exhibition, major mobile brands have been a growing presence over the last few years, so a new smartphone isn't out of the question. The timing seems better for a tablet, however, since its last major release in the category was August's Galaxy Note 10.1.
Perhaps, though, the company will stick to its core home categories and apply some innovation to the TV itself in an attempt to end-run Apple's rumored television. Or maybe it really will deliver on the "something new" promise with a product that's completely unexpected.
